Jaws was the best JCFC screening yet and I was reminded of how brilliant both these classic Spielberg films are and it is hard to believe that few films since are in the same league. Both \u003Cb\u003ERaiders of The Lost Ark\u003C\/b\u003E and \u003Cb\u003EJaws \u003C\/b\u003Eare now available in high definition Blu-ray format. font-size: 180%;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EA\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E couple of weeks ago, along with 600 other Londoners in the know, we were fortunate enough to participate in the \u003Cb\u003EJameson Cult Club\u003C\/b\u003E screening of \u003Cb\u003EHeadhunters \u003C\/b\u003Eand conversation with its stars at the Saatchi Gallery.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003EThe \u003Cb\u003EJameson Cult Film Club\u003C\/b\u003E screening of \u003Cb\u003EHeadhunters \u003C\/b\u003Emarked a shift in the JCFC’s format as the focus was on Future Cult and they could not have marked the occasion with a more appropriate film than the darkly sublime \u003Cb\u003EHeadhunters\u003C\/b\u003E.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003EIf you read The Establishing Shot you’ll know we loved \u003Cb\u003EHeadhunters \u003C\/b\u003Eand it is currently my top 3 film of 2012 so far. Our thoughts of the engaging and darkly brilliant Headhunters can be found over \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.theestablishingshot.com\/2012\/04\/establishing-shot-jo-nesbos-headhunters.html\"\u003Ehere\u003C\/a\u003E! My arc with \u003Cb\u003EHeadhunters \u003C\/b\u003Ewent from my interest being piqued by the cryptic and engaging trailer. To being utterly astonished by my first viewing of \u003Cb\u003EHeadhunters\u003C\/b\u003E. I knew that festival audiences had received it well but nothing quite prepared me for the fun ride that \u003Cb\u003EHeadhunters \u003C\/b\u003Edelivers. I liked it so much that I went to see it again, so my wife a fan of crime fiction could enjoy it. I thought I would head to the \u003Cb\u003ELive Quarter\u003C\/b\u003E and check out \u003Cb\u003EHollywood Boulevard\u003C\/b\u003E and \u003Cb\u003EStudio City\u003C\/b\u003E.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cb\u003E     BIG SCREEN\u003C\/b\u003E is the first film convention that schedules and maps were supplied at the entrance as well as in my press pack (thank you it was noticed and appreciated) which didn’t help me as I left my pack in the press room.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E     No worries as there were large maps located where footfall traffic converged. Not only do they promote the love of good film with the \u003Cb\u003EJameson Cult Film Clu\u003C\/b\u003Eb season of screenings but they also sponsor \u003Cb\u003EThe Film Independent Spirit Awards\u003C\/b\u003E, \u003Cb\u003EThe Jameson Dublin International Film Festival\u003C\/b\u003E as well as the prestigious \u003Cb\u003EJameson Empire Awards\u003C\/b\u003E.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003ESo when I heard the \u003Cb\u003EJameson Cult Film Club \u003C\/b\u003Ewere going to be screening \u003Cb\u003EMONSTERS\u003C\/b\u003E. But not before posting about my visit to \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EFlynn’s Arcade\u003C\/span\u003E.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E     The original \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003ETRON \u003C\/span\u003Ehad its faults but my love of it grew over the years and it inspired me to either follow a career in arcade ownership or computer graphics - I settled on the latter for awhile.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E     Back in July of 2009 \u003Cb\u003EDisney\u003C\/b\u003E unveiled a \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EFlynn’s Arcade\u003C\/span\u003E at Comic Con San Diego. I was green with envy when I saw pictures and video of fans getting a chance to visit \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EFlynn’s Arcade\u003C\/span\u003E as well as get a first look at a real \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003ELight Cycle\u003C\/span\u003E.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E     So about 6 months ago when Disney asked what UK fans would like to see next from \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003ETRON: Legacy\u003C\/span\u003E naturally my list consisted of:\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E- A \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EFlynn’s Arcade \u003C\/span\u003E(in London)\u003Cbr\u003E- A Light Cycle (in London)\u003Cbr\u003E- Some \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EFlynn’s Arcade \u003C\/span\u003Etokens\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E     Not for one second did I think that an Arcade or Light Cycle would make their way to our shores. And a \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EFlynn’s Arcade\u003C\/span\u003E token was more achievable.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E     So you can imagine my surprise and delight when I found out via the \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/ldnfilmmuseum\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003ELondon Film Museum\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E’s Twitter feed that Hewlett Packard where hosting a\u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003E TRON: Legacy\u003C\/span\u003E Experience on Southbank. float: left; height: 74px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 105px;\"\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: 180%; font-weight: bold;\"\u003EG\u003C\/span\u003Eiven the increase and number of various Immersive Cinematic events to choose from I would be surprised if you haven’t participated - or at least aware of the uprising of events popping up in London (as well as the rest of the UK).\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003EThey are the cinematic equivalent of Tyler Durden’s \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EFight Club\u003C\/span\u003Es, the secret gigs of the 2000s and the warehouse parties of the 80s - they pop up, create an immersive experience and fade back into the night.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003EFor years - in the hopes of offering a deeper, more compelling experience to keep audiences engaged and interested - there has been much talk of how audiences can be engaged beyond the passive viewing experience with immersive cinema.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003EWith the continued dissatisfaction in traditional cinema, many of us are seeking out more niche experiences, not only more in line with our general social seeking behaviour but experiences that embody the same care and attention, showing a film that filmmakers put into a making a film (and which we view the film with.)\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003ETheir have been various attempts at this, the most enduring (and successful) of these being \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003ESurround sound\u003C\/span\u003E, \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003E3D \u003C\/span\u003Eand more recently \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EIMAX\u003C\/span\u003E. However there have been many other attempts including; \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003ESmell-o-vision\u003C\/span\u003E (odours released to coincide with on-screen events) and its scratch-n-sniff offshoot \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EOdorama \u003C\/span\u003E(successfully employed last year at the ICA for a screening of Peter Greenway’s \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EThe Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover\u003C\/span\u003E), \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EPercepto\u003C\/span\u003E! (small electric buzzers attached to chairs), \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EIllusion-O\u003C\/span\u003E (coloured glasses reveal ghosts), \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003ESensurround \u003C\/span\u003E(incredibly loud rumbling bass output), \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003ECinerama \u003C\/span\u003E(curved 146 degree widescreens) as well as \u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003E4-D\u003C\/span\u003E (3D combined with physical interaction like moving\/vibrating chairs) mostly used in theme parks. These screenings also offer a warm platform for film lovers to come together and watch some of their favourite films.
