All you have to do to win one of the awesome T-Shirts above that are presumably comfortable as well as scream "Ladies/Lothario take me home now" is tell us by commenting below:
What is the most memorable or most bizarre death scene caused by a Rutger Hauer character? You can choose from any of his many, many films or TV shows.
Example: The scene from The Hitcher where the girl (Jennifer Jason Leigh) really stretches herself for the role still haunts me. You can still use this answer as it is a pretty good one.

If you need a hint: Hobo with a Shotgun, The Rite, Goal II: Living the Dream, Minotaur, The Poseidon Adventure, Dracula III: Legacy, Batman Begins, Sin City, Salem's Lot, Smallville, Alias, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal, The 10th Kingdom, Bone Daddy, Armageddon, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Split Second, Past Midnight, The Salute of the Jugger, Blind Fury, Escape from Sobibor, Wanted: Dead or Alive, The Hitcher, Flesh+Blood, Ladyhawke, A Breed Apart, The Osterman Weekend, Blade Runner, Nighthawks, Soldier of Orange.

I'm sure you are keen to try out these babies but remember not only are they a fashion statement but they are sure to be collectors pieces moving forward, so think about it before cracking open the vacuum sealed packing of the HWAS T-Shirt.

The fine print:
3 Winners will be chosen based on the most impressive answers. The judges (meaning my) decision is final. Currently I am unsure how long the competition will run for but I will update the conditions as soon as I do. Your T-Shirt will be randomly selected from one of the two available designs and posted to the the address you provide within the UK. Good luck.

PS IF you can't see the comment box - refresh the page.

Hobo With A Shotgun is available on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK from today 1 August, 2011.

  1. 1992 British low rent sci fi film "Split Second" is one of my favourite Rutger Hauer movies (Wedlock, Suriving The Game & Blind Fury probably the closest others).  The film is a shameless knock off of Alien thrown in a blender with Blade Runner, various 80's/90's post apocalyptic tropes, and an armful of familiar faced british character actors (Pete Postlethwaite, Ian Dury, etc).

In the climactic battle, Rutger faces off with the Alien, which appears to be some form of giant mutoid Rat.. after a while splashing around in the London sewers, Hauer's character quite happily punches through the rat's chest, rips out its still beating heart, then cooly blows it away, splattering Cannon Street tube station in corn syrup and latex.

Awesome stuff, have a watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=994DBK6gdw4&feature=player_detailpage#t=416s

ps - Blade Runner is certainly RH's most memorable death scene, but DOES he cause it himself?

  2. Split Second - he rips the monster's heart out! And his character's name is HARLEY STONE. Top that.

  3. Has to be said I don't think you can beat the death of Nash in the Hitcher. Death by truck - that's pretty hard core and nothing like putting a bit of effort in!

  4. Here's an odd one. The first girl Rutger Hauer kills in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Cassandra, that always freaks me out for one reason: it's my cousin. Rutger Hauer drains my cousin, Natasha Gregson Wagner of her blood. He's creepy enough, but then he went and did that and absolutely terrified me.

  5. I'm thinking the 'manhole cover decapitation' from HWAS is pretty damn good. Would also make a great name for a band.

  6. Surely one of the finest is the truly explosive
ending to Wanted: Dead or Alive when he finally dispatches Gene Simmons.

  7. Can't believe no one added "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die. "

  8. His own death scene as replicant Roy Batty in Blade Runner

  9. "I've done questionable things". Roy Batty kissing his maker Dr. Tyrell on the lips before slowly crushing his head in 'Bladerunner'. Brutal and impassioned and surely one of his finest ever performances.

  10. Seen a few Hauer movies but nothing quite compares to "I'm gonna sleep in your bloody carcasses tonight!".  Favorite by far.
