The Establishing Shot: See - Chivas Regal's Here's to Big Bear and Here's to Twinkle shorts by Joachim Back

Here's to Big BearChivas Regal have just unveiled their two "Live with Chivalry" Joachim Black shorts Here's to Big Bear and Here's to Twinkle.

Both shorts focus on a group of modern male friends; Joe, Sammy, Nicolas and Emilio as they deal with two very different scenarios in the only way men know how to, whilst maintaining some of their dignity.

Here's to Big Bear
In Here’s to Big Bear we follow Joe, Sammy, Nicolas and Emilio as they find themselves stranded at a train station in the middle of nowhere after getting off at the wrong stop. Suited, booted and stranded in the desert in black tie, we follow the friends on an interesting journey that finally leads them to an awkward moment with Big Bear.

One is never quite sure the direction the film will go as it smartly avoids The Hangover territory and weaves through the groups adventure - but the ending will leave you toe tapping and singing along. Whilst leaving many questions open, like - how did they get there and what happened next?

Director: Joachim Back
Actors: Joe Hursley, Joseph Beattie, Pete Chekvala, Duncan Pow, Leigh Jones, John Benfield, Daniel Earl
Song: Phil Oakey - Together In Electric Dreams

Here's to Twinkle
In the second film Sammy gets his heart broken leaving Joe, Emilio and Nicholas to pick up the pieces. They know the drill. A day of beach, bowling and basketball to take his mind off his misery. But despite their efforts it finally takes 'Twinkle' to put a smile back on Sammy's face.

We've all been there, so no need to delve to deeply into the pain that a broken relationship brings, but Joachim Black brings a touch of humour and warmth and I loved they way Here's to Twinkle evokes a sense of  LA Brat Pack and male bonding.

Director: Joachim Back
Actors: Joe Hursley, Joseph Beattie, Pete Chekvala, Duncan Pow, Tara Newton-Roberts and Twinkle
Song: Bing Crosby & Victor Young And His Orchestra - Getting to Know You

Chivas Regal presents an interview with Joachim Back
Below is a QA with Joachim Black about his shorts Here's to Big Bear and Here's to Twinkle for Chivas Regal. In the QA Joachim discusses his influences (Federico Fellini, Roman Polanski, David Lynch), why he got involved in the Chivas Regal project, how he got started out in film-making, some advice for aspiring filmmakers and his two upcoming films American Doll and Please let me keep my blue eyes. Sounds like we can expect more from Joachim Black soon.
