Done In 60 secondsThe Jameson Empire Done in Sixty Seconds or DISS short film making competition is back.

Last year Mr. Tom Hooper the man behind The King's Speech was the Done in 60 Seconds Ambassador, you may remember our chat with him over here! Looks like this year's ambassador was on the DISS team last year as well as is one of the nicest people in show business and 2012 BAFTA Orange Rising Star Nominee... Mr. Chris O’Dowd

Our invite to chat with him on the media day must have been lost in the post or he may have remembered my goading him at the Jameson Empire Awards 2011. Never the less - below some info and a video of Chris O’Dowd after finishing a bottle of the good stuff* explaining his involvement in the Jameson Empire Done in Sixty Seconds, what he is up to next - including representing Great Britain with his gymnastic skills in the 2012 Olympic Games, as some advice for aspiring entrants.

Jameson and Empire are pleased to announce actor and comedian, Chris O’Dowd as ambassador for the fifth Done in 60 Seconds short film competition. Film fans from as far afield as Chile and Russia will have to impress a renowned panel of judges, for a chance to attend the glamorous Jameson Empire Awards 2012 in London on 25 March.

Currently starring alongside Megan Fox in Judd Apatow’s latest production, This is Forty, Chris O’Dowd has fast established himself on the big screen, having originally wowed audiences in the hit TV series, The IT Crowd. Presenting this year’s Done in 60 Seconds award to the hilarious lo-fi reimagining of 127 Hours, Chris is already well aware of the caliber of entries the competition attracts.

Chris O’Dowd comments: “Done in 60 Seconds is such a fun award and I like the fact it always produces a few surprises. It’s not easy squashing an entire film into a minute so to stand out you have to be original, clever and entertaining; just look at the 2011 winner for inspiration. Also having 20 countries competing keeps the process interesting as you never know what people will want to remake. My main piece of advice is to entertain!”

Budding directors can watch an exclusive video of tips from Chris O’Dowd on shooting their mini masterpiece at www.jamesonempirediss.com, as well uploading their final entry on the site too. The public will also be able to view all the entries on the Done in 60 Seconds You Tube channel (youtube.com/jamesonempirediss) and cast a vote for their favorite.

Shortlisted nominees from each of the 20 countries will go to the live global final in London on 23 March, where the panel of judges will select the five best entries. These five finalists will all attend the star studded Jameson Empire Awards on 25 March, where the overall winner will be announced and have their chance to shine amongst the film world.

The Jameson Empire Awards celebrate the film industry’s success stories of the year with Empire Magazine readers voting for the winners. The awards ceremony is deemed by many in the industry as the most fun awards in the British movie calendar, making it the perfect match for Jameson.
