The Double Stella ArtoisThankfully Stella Artois are continuing their support of UK backed independent film. They have got behind a number of great little films that may have otherwise not got as wide release or as much buzz (they also give fans the opportunity to see these films for free - there is a link further below to apply for tickets for The Double), if you haven’t already, give any of the previous Stella Artois selection a gander and you'll be rewarded with an original and compelling experience like with Bart Layton's unbelievable The Imposter, Will Lovelace & Dylan Southern's incredible Shut Up and Play the Hits (which just keeps getting better every time I see it) and Ben Wheatley's fiercely original Sightseers and A Field in England or Jeremy Lovering's seriously creepy In Fear.

This time Richard Ayoade's The Double starring Jesse Eisenberg, Paddy Constantine, Sally Hawkins, Chris O’Dowd and Chris Morris is getting some Stella Artois attention and I couldn't be more pleased. The Double has already created a lot of buzz on the festival circuit and certainly one of my most anticipated films of 2014. No doubt it will continue Richard Ayoade's rise as one of our freshest, talented and original film-makers.

SPECIAL UK PREVIEW OF THE DOUBLE AT HACKNEY PICTUREHOUSE, SUPPORTED BY STELLA ARTOIS
STELLA ARTOIS PRESENTS PREVIEW SCREENING AND Q&A SESSION WITH FILM DIRECTOR RICHARD AYOADE AND JONATHAN ROSS

This month, Stella Artois is offering film fans and budding film-makers the chance to gain behind-the-scenes insights from the critically acclaimed director of Submarine, Richard Ayoade, ahead of his latest release, The Double. The country’s number one premium beer brand* has partnered with Picturehouse Cinemas to host the preview.  This will be followed by ‘An audience with Richard Ayoade’ – a special Q&A led by talk show host and former film critic, Jonathan Ross.

A darkly comic, original and unique interpretation of the classic novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Double features a superb performance from Jesse Eisenberg, and tells the story of a timid and overlooked man who finds his exact physical double has taken over his life. The film also boasts a wealth of British comedy talent, including Paddy Constantine, Sally Hawkins, Chris O’Dowd and Chris Morris.

The exclusive event will take place at London’s Hackney Picturehouse and will also be satellite broadcast to 17 additional Picturehouse Cinemas on Thursday 27th March at 18.45pm. Film fans have the chance to win tickets** to attend via the Stella Artois UK Facebook page from 18th March 2014.

The Stella Artois bursary programme was set up to support exceptional film-making talent and to provide unique cinematic experiences for film fans. The premiere screening of The Double is the first instalment of the Stella Artois bursary programme for 2014. Previous support has enabled premieres for seven films, including In Fear and A Field in England, reflecting Stella Artois’ longstanding support of great film.

“Celebrating sophisticated cinema together with our fans is, and always has been, a priority for Stella Artois” said Phil Pick, AB InBev UK’s Marketing Manager for Stella Artois. “Our film bursary programme allows us to create and share unique and memorable film moments with cinema-lovers across the UK, with the opportunity to continue supporting the exceptional talent and creativity demonstrated in films such as The Double in 2014.”
