HeadhuntersYes! The Jameson Cult Film Club 2012 London season is starting up again in and it looks like the JCFC are enhancing their format slightly as for the first time we are going to be treated to a Future Cult Screening, that is a film that has not been released over here yet but has all the potential and elements of a Future Cult hit. The film in discussion is of course Jo Nesbo’s Headhunters.

I have seen Headhunters and will have a review up at some point I can in the meantime wholeheartedly recommend that you try get in to see this film. It is another cracker from our friends up North (Norway) not as bleak as Dragon Tattoo but Headhunters is just as gripping with a lot more action and dark humour. In case this is too ambiguous - I really enjoyed Headhunters it is a smart, slick, bloody and sexy film. Director Morten Tyldum will cleverly manipulate you to the point that you should find yourself on the edge of your seat questioning and analysing every little detail as a possible clue as to what is going. Compelling and frustrating in equal measure as Headhunters builds to its climax.

Jo Nesbo’s Headhunters tells the story of the charismatic Roger Brown (Aksel Hennie); a successful corporate headhunter by day and prolific art thief by night. While he maintains the image of his seemingly perfect life to his colleagues and beautiful wife, Roger’s life gets turned upside down when he is lured into a dangerous game of cat and mouse after he attempts the biggest heist of his life. Headhunters is the first big screen adaptation of a Jo Nesbo bestselling novel.

An added bonus to this screening is that not only are some of the films team going to be coming along to participate in a QA but to enhance the immersive experience of Headhunters the screening is going to be held at the prestigious Saatchi Gallery on King’s Road. This may not mean much to you yet but enough to say that art galleries and art theft feature in Headhunters.

For the first time ever Jameson Cult Film Club has chosen to preview a film worthy of the clubs’ ‘Future Cult’ status, before it is released in cinemas.
‘Future Cult’ screenings showcase a film that could become a cult film in the future
Jameson will treat guests to a very special evening as the world of film and art merge together, with subtle references from the crazy world of Jo Nesbo’s Headhunters bringing the film to life at every turn.
Stars of the film Aksel Hennie (Roger), Synnove Macody Lund (Diana), Producer Marianne Gray and possibly Director Morten Tyldum will attend to take part in an audience Q&A

Headhunters release date: 6 April, 2012
Roger Brown has it all.  He's the country's most successful headhunter. He has a beautiful wife and a magnificent house. To maintain his lifestyle, he's also an accomplished art thief. At a gallery opening, his wife introduces him to Clas Greve. Not only is Clas the perfect candidate for one of Roger's high profile clients, he's also in possession of the most sought after painting in the world. Roger sees his chance to become rich beyond his wildest dreams and starts planning for his biggest heist ever.  But soon he runs into trouble - and this time money is the least of his worries.

Based on Jo Nesbo’s bestselling crime thriller, HEADHUNTERS is the author’s first novel to be adapted for the big screen. Directed by MORTEN TYLDUM (WHAT HAPPENED TO MONDAY) and produced by YELLOW BIRD, the production company behind the phenomenally successful THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and WALLANDER, HEADHUNTERS stars AKSEL HENNIE, NIKOLAJ COSTER-WALDAU (GAME OF THRONES, MAMA, OBLIVION), SYNNOVE MACODY LUND and JULIE R. OLGAARD (THE KILLING.)

About Jo Nesbø
Jo Nesbø is a bastion for the modern crime novel. He is famous for his eight internationally acclaimed novels featuring Detective Harry Hole and recently went to No. 1 in the UK bestsellers chart, making him the 2nd translated author in history, after Stieg Larsson, to top the UK book charts.
