Singer songwriter activist M.I.A. may have released 3 albums, been nominated for an Academy Award, two Grammy Awards and Mercury Prize but will probably be known to most for a remix of her song Paper Planes used by
Danny Boyle for his
Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack and the controversial promo video for her song
Born Free.
The promo was made by
Romain Gavras, son of master political filmmaker
Costa-Gavras, it features adult themes including nudity and violence and is a metaphor for exploring xenophobia, racism and and intolerance.
