The Establishing Shot: Avengers Assemble Tops Survey of Most Anticipated Summer Movies & lots of Avengers Assemble updates including clips

Inconceivable! This is certainly a surprise - to me anyway. Avengers Assemble is now officially the most anticipated film of summer ahead of Skyfall, The Dark Knight Rises and Prometheus!


Well maybe not such a big surprise after having seen it and whilst I can’t say too much about it till 2pm on Friday 20 April - these were my immediate Tweets after viewing it:

@TheEstShot: I would thank Joss Whedon for making a film as great as the comics of my childhood but he didn't - Avengers Assemble is way better!

But a couple of weeks ago a colleague predicted that The Hunger Games was going to be the runaway smash hit of the year. As much as I enjoyed the Hunger Games it is by no means the last word on brilliant cinema but it is fairly solid with a great performance from Jennifer Lawrence, but more than that it has a legion of teen fans that will support it. My knee jerk, very off the cuff reaction was to tweet my predictions for the top money spinners for summer and it went a little something like this:

* Strong teen fan bases will skew results
 ** Just because it on my list doesn't mean its good or I’ll enjoy it.

If I actually applied some thought to it my most anticipated films of summer list might look a lot like this.

 In my expected 2012 box office hits I placed Avengers Assemble fairly low on the ladder, which seems ridiculous now but I had concerns but as Tony Starke says:


Fandango the US based movie ticketing site, ran a survey for their large customer base about films being released summer 2012 and the results are in revealing some interesting insight into what Americans are looking forward to.

Surprisingly - despite the series’ very strong box office success The Amazing Spider-Man doesn't seem to feature at all but Avengers Assemble features more than one in the results of the Fandango survey results.

London, Wednesday April 19 2012; Starting today, fans all over the world will help graffiti artist Alex Young ‘Odisy’ create never-before-seen artwork in an exclusive global event: Assemble Live.

Fans will vote via Twitter to determine which Avengers characters are assembled next – as graffiti artists from Addict bring the Avengers to life, live from London’s Old Street.

Fans can vote now for which character is to be created first by simply tweeting #ASSEMBLELIVE plus their favourite character # VOTETHOR, #VOTEBLACKWIDOW, #VOTEIRONMAN, #VOTEHAWKEYE, #VOTECAPTAINAMERICA, #VOTENICKFURY, #VOTELOKI or #VOTETHEHULK.

Two characters will be assembled per day from Wednesday 18th April, and the event will be streamed live at www.livestream.com/assemblelive where the audience can check the current voting leaderboard.

FANS ASSEMBLE WORLD WIDE FOR AN EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK AT MARVEL'S AVENGERS ASSEMBLE

Saturday, 14th April. Excited Avengers fans assembled across Europe and the US tonight to become the first public audiences to see the highly anticipated film, Marvel's Avengers Assemble in exclusive fan screenings across the globe. Screenings in London, Dublin, Paris, Berlin, LA, New York, Chicago, Miami, Houston, Philadelphia, San Diego, Orlando, San Antonio and Phoenix all kicked off within hours of each other, rewarding devoted superhero film fans with an exclusive preview of the biggest superhero film in history, Marvel's Avengers Assemble.


In the UK, fans travelled across the country to take part in this exclusive London screening, many dressing as their favourite Avengers characters, eagerly anticipating a movie they have followed intently over the last year of production. In the UK, Marvel's Avengers Assemble Face book page has 125,000 devoted followers, 3000 of whom applied to be part of this exclusive Fan Screening Event, with 380 lucky winners picked at random from RSVPs, securing places at the screening at Shepherds Bush Vue Cinema, W12. Fan Screenings in Singapore, Australia, Korea and India will follow over the next week, building the frenzy of excitement ahead the release of 2012's first blockbuster.


Marvel Avengers Assemble
Marvel’s Avengers Assemble brings together the iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow as they answer a call to action when Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency S.H.I.E.L.D., initiates a daring, globe-spanning recruitment effort to assemble a team to defeat an unexpected enemy.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddleston, with Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L.
