Shut Up and Play The HitsUnfortunately the premiere for Shut Up and Play The Hits has sold out, much like LCD Soundsystem’s final gig - the focus of Shut Up and Play The Hits - but Stella Artois are giving film fans the chance to win tickets to one of their satellite premiere screenings & QA session with LCD frontman James Murphy.

THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED THANKS

I haven't seen  Shut Up and Play The Hits yet but it was very well received at both Sundance & SXSW with viewers praising the concert footage as well as the insight into the culture of modern music so I am chomping at the bit to get in on the action and will be listening to some LCD Soundsystem to get into the mood.

On 2 April 2011, LCD Soundsystem played its final show at Madison Square Garden. LCD frontman James Murphy had made the conscious decision to disband one of the most celebrated and influential bands of its generation at the peak of its popularity, ensuring that it would go out on top with the biggest and most ambitious concert of its career.

The instantly sold-out, near four-hour extravaganza achieved just that, moving the thousands in attendance to tears of joy and grief, with New York magazine calling the event “a marvel of pure craft” and Time magazine lamenting “we may never dance again.” Shut Up and Play The Hits is both a narrative film documenting this once-in-a-lifetime performance and an intimate portrait of James Murphy as he navigates the lead-up to the show, the day after, and the personal and professional ramifications of his decision. Stella Artois has partnered with Picturehouse Cinemas and Pulse Films to host the Premiere, followed by An audience with James Murphy - a special QA event for film fans at the screening.
