The Helpers horrific ediblesAs you may know I am a huge fan of the culinary arts so when this invite landed in my inbox my interest was immediately piqued.

To celebrate the release of horror film The Helpers on DVD (out 21st January), Koch Media has teamed up with self-confessed 'gorehound' Miss Cakehead to create the world's most horrific edible installation, in East London.

On Friday 18th January, 6pm - 11pm, brave members of the public are invited to explore the gruesome, weird and wonderful edible 'film set', inspired by scenes from gorey horror The Helpers. Members of the public are invited to apply for free tickets via the film's Facebook page, http://on.fb.me/W0tesQ.

Potent, bloody-looking cocktails in bath tubs, edible car batteries created from gingerbread, cakes baked within old televisions, chocolate weapons, desserts cooked using electrocution, edible rope, screaming chocolate heads, tortured arm cakes with acid wounds (pictured above), cocktails inspired by vomit (pictured below) and chewy ‘wire’ are just some of the horrific yet tasty treats lined up for you in this The Helpers  -inspired film set pop-up experience, which offers free cocktails and cake on the 18th January 2013. The catch? You’ll have to be able to stomach it first!

Seven friends from Sacramento California all decide to go on a documented trip to Las Vegas. All seems fun until they hit a detour/road block. A couple hours of lost driving later, both of the back tires on the truck are blown out! After some moments of confusion and arguing, the gang comes up with the plan that all the girls will stay inside the truck while all the guys walk down the road to find HELP.

A couple miles down the road, the guys find a little gas station Diner/Motel, run by the most friendly, polite and "helpful" people. The guys think they're in luck when they're offered HELP by the super friendly gas station attendant, who just happens to be great with cars. It appears that their problems are solved, but boy are they wrong! When convinced by "The Helpers" to stay overnight, the friends all wake up in their rooms to a new kind of gruesome and bloody terror!

Koch Media, in conjunction with Miss Cakehead, will help put you out of your misery this January with a horror filled multi-sensory edible experience set in a specially created motel room at the Original Content London base in East London. The installation is celebrating the release of horror film The Helpers on DVD, available from 21st January 2013 on Amazon and other retailers.

The film set pop-up features innovative and repulsive edible marvels, the likes of which have never been dared before. The question is, who will be able to face them? Naturally all of the sensory edible experiences on offer will be associated with the film, bringing a heightened level of experience to those who are brave enough to watch The Helpers when it’s unleashed on DVD.

Miss Cakehead comments:
" I thought the Resident Evil human butchery was going to be the most extreme project I conceived for a few years but this project for The Helpers has totally blown that out of the water. Working with Koch Media has been goretastic as there have been no limitations on how far we can push the deviant and delicious concept, perfect for the Cakehead Loves and Eat Your Heart Out Team. Without question this is one of the most horrific edible projects ever created and it’s going to be truly fascinating to see if people can stomach eating the delicious cakes and treats. "

Miss Cakehead has curated a team of the UK’s most talented and innovative food artists the UK has to offer for this project including Nevie Pie Cakes, Conjurer’s Kitchen, Sarah Hardy, Chris Verrares, Miss Insomnia Tulip and high concept art cocktail maker James Dance.
