James Bond Films return to cinemas in 4K for 007 Retrospective #60yearsofBond |
At the end of Cary Joji Fukunaga's shocking No Time to Die, as in 22 of the 25 canon Bond films, starting with From Russia With Love (1963) including all of Daniel Craig's missions as Bond - we were teased with the classic signature that "James Bond will return" - but I suspect that many of us did not think it would be this soon.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of Ian Fleming's James Bond being committed to the big screen in the shape of a panther-like Sean Connery in Terence Young's 1962 Dr. No, an adaptation of Ian Fleming's sixth James Bond novel of the same name.
For the 60th Anniversary of the beloved British franchise, all 25 Bond films will return to the big screen in the ultimate BOND retrospective which kicked off on Friday 14 April with Dr. No. The BOND retrospective will continue screening chronologically from April – October 2022, culminating in World Bond Day 5th October.

Ian Fleming's legacy of Bond has transcended his books, as did producers Albert Romolo "Cubby" Broccoli and Herschel "Harry" Saltzman's interpretation of Bond for the screen. This legacy was passed on to Broccoli's stepson Michael Gregg "G" Wilson, CBE and Daughter Barbara Dana Broccoli CBE, who took the Bond franchise into the stratosphere. Their legacy looks to be including Wilson's sons Gregg and David Gregg who has taken an increasingly more active role within EON/DANJAC and may be part of the team take 007 into the future. Something I have been thinking about since noticing Broccoli, Wilson and the younger Gregg Wilson taking their seats a couple of rows behind us at the London premiere of Cary Joji Fukunaga's Maniac in 2018 about a week before he was announced as director of No Time To Die.
The Bond Retrospective will be screened at Vue, Odeon & Cineworld Cinemas across the UK and Ireland.
This Friday 13 May, sees the one and only Sir Sean Connery return to the big screen in his fifth outing as James Bond in Lewis Gilbert's 1967 You Only Live Twice. The one where 007 goes to Japan introduces us to Little Nellie, fights ninjas, does everything in Japanese style and dies. Not necessarily in that order. In the meantime you can find the full 007 Retrospective #60yearsofBond schedule further below.
