Kapow! Comic ConI left the Millarworld Panel a little early, as I was hoping to catch a bit of the Momentum Pictures Showcase happening next door in the auditorium. Before that I thought I would take a wander around the main hall and get a feel for Kapow! As it was much fuller by now.

Kapow! Comic Con Day 2 Sunday - Momentum Pictures Showcase

Momentum rolled out promo offering for five of their films for 2011. For the first 3 films Kapow! Audiences were only shown internet available trailers, nice to see in high quality on the big screen but after the trailers it got a lot more interesting when the panels started.

Hobo With A Shotgun
Against better judgment the fan made competition winning spoof trailer from Grindhouse has finally made it’s way on to the big screen. Having said that I have not seen any of the promo stuff so it could actually be quite good. I’m just glad that Jason Eisener is getting the chance to make a feature film.

A homeless vigilante blows away crooked cops, pedophile Santas, and other scumbags with his trusty pump-action shotgun.

Red Hill
I have only heard good things about the modern take on High Noon sounding Red Hill, starring True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten. And this is one I’m looking forward to.

A young police officer must survive his first day's duty in a small country town.

The Troll Hunter (Trolljegeren)
Troll Hunter was an unlisted surprise promo. This was the first I had heard of it and it looks like a lot of fun. Blair Witch, Cloverfield and Godzilla all rolled into one.

A group of students investigate a series of mysterious bear killings, but learns that there are much more dangerous things going on. They start to follow a mysterious hunter, learning that he is actually a troll hunter.

The Woman in Black Panel
The Woman in Black is a classic ghost story that had a long run as a play in London. People have been genuinely terrified by the play and the filmmakers have said that not only will they take that experience to screen but have gone back to the book and used more than audiences have seen before.

The Woman in Black is the eagerly anticipated Hammer House of horror produced, Jane Goldman adapted ghost story starring Daniel Radcliffe and is expected to be huge hit when it’s released in October later this year.

Director James Watkins came along to talk about making The Woman in Black and Kapow! Audiences were than treated to a world first as Kapow! Unveiled the teaser trailer for The Woman in Black. Which is creepy and seems to maintain the promise we are hoping for.

The Woman in Black teaser trailer

Based on the classic ghost story, The Woman in Black tells the tale of Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe), a lawyer who is forced to leave his young son and travel to a remote village to attend to the affairs of the recently deceased owner of Eel Marsh House.

Working alone in the old mansion, Kipps begins to uncover the town’s tragic and tortured secrets and his fears escalate when he discovers that local children have been dying under mysterious circumstances. When those closest to him become threatened by the vengeful woman in black, Kipps must find a way to break the cycle of terror.

The Woman in Black also stars Ciaran Hinds (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) and Janet McTeer (Tumbleweeds), was adapted from Susan Hill’s novel for the screen by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass) and directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake).

But while that was all going on I was being introduced to the excitement of Codemasters Operation Flashpoint Red River for Xbox. A military team based strategic shoot em up. Which was great to see as usually conventions of this type tend to promote fantasy, dance or manga based games - so it was a refreshing change that there were games that I was interested in and could demo.

Unfortunately my team lost this time round. But we did get some cool Flashpoint pins/badges for our effort. By now the Kapow! Was heaving with people not only was the IGN Arena starting to full but their was a loud buzz throughout the whole center. Don’t quote me on this seem but there seemed to be 2 regular joes to every Cosplay person it was packed with lots of super heroes & villains as well as gorgeous super heroines and villaineressess .

Fortunately I bumped into an acquaintance who is the human equivalent of Ninja cat and we roamed the centre taking in the stalls and looking for some interesting pieces.

While we were doing this there was an E4: Misfits & Skins Panel in the Gallery Hall and a FX UK: Walking Dead & Falling Skies Panel in the Auditorium where audiences go to watch a recorded message from Andrew Lincoln from Walking Dead and watch the World Premiere of Steven Spielberg’s Falling Skies. Both had queues that stretched around the hall so we decided to continue with our roaming.

We continued a roam around, popping into various stalls and chatting comics & film with the various stallholders, accosting various Cos players for photos as well as stared at comic legends at the signing tables.
