KAPOW! Comic ConIf you read my semi regular news updates you'll be aware of developments for KAPOW! Comic Con 2012. And allthough nothing regarding DREDD has been announced or confirmed  - I am still holding thumbs. With some big film & TV updates expected to be announced 3 May we bring you a very exciting announcement hot off the press or rather my inbox:

Kapow! is delighted to announce that the white hot, Oscar-nominated director of Supercrooks, Nacho Vigalondo, will be attending their convention in May.
Supercrooks is the latest comic-book series from Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Wanted) and the Spanish director will be interviewed live about the new project on the Total Film stage. The Spanish director, who’s previous work includes Time-Crimes and Extraterrestrial, will be talking about directing and co-writing the screenplay as well as detailing us on all his future feature plans.

Nacho explains, “I visited Kapow! last year to have a look around and enjoy myself, and believe it is the perfect platform to start talking about my plans for the Supercrooks movie. I really love comics, and of course movies, so Kapow! is my idea of a perfect weekend”. If you remember my coverage from last year's Kapow! Comic Con I covered the Millar World announcement of Supercrooks here!

Nacho was behind the entertaining Superrooks comic-book viral which launched earlier this week on Hollywood Reporter, and rapidly spread around the internet. You can see it for your self below. Whilst it doesn't show anything from Supercrooks it's a really early taste of what to expect.

Video: Really early Supercrooks teaser trailer

Supercrooks, co-created and illustrated by Leinil Yu (Superior), and described by Millar as “X-Men meets Ocean’s 11” is about a group of supervillains who head to Europe to pull off a massive heist, figuring that that there are too many superheroes in America these days. Marc Platt, who produced Wanted, is on board to produce with actors yet to be officially attached.
